The Basics

CHEGG is a turn-based, deck-building strategy game. The game uses 'Spawn Eggs' as representations of the game's Mobs.

The name CHEGG is a portmanteau of Chess and Egg.

The Board

CHEGG is played usually on a 8×10 Checkerboard.

  • The last two rows of each side are coloured Red and Blue respectively. These mark the Spawn Zones of each player.
  • These spawning zones are the only areas where players are allowed to spawn their Mobs.
  • Once spawned, Mobs can move anywhere on the board.
  • Arena Modifications: The middle checkered area may be customised. Modifications are added before the players choose their deck.

The Goal & Win Conditions

At the start of every CHEGG game, each player places down their Villager token somewhere in their spawning area. This Mob functions identically to a 'King' in Chess.

Victory Conditions

  1. Elimination: Eliminate your opponent's Villager.
  2. Stalemate (Forced Action): If a player cannot perform at least one action (Spawn, Move, Attack, Dash, or Ability) on their turn, they lose the game immediately.

Turn Limit: The game ends automatically after 50 Rounds. If no villager has died by then, the match results in a Draw.

Deck Building

Players build their own 'decks' to determine their strategy.

  • Deck Size: A deck consists of 30 Mobs (Eggs).
  • Effects: A player may have maximum 20 total powers between all of his potions. The potions can be used on every tile (except the opponent's Spawn Zone), they can be used against friendly and enemy mobs.
  • Boss Limit: A player may have maximum ONE singular Boss Mob in their deck (Ender Dragon, Elder Guardian, Warden, Wither).

Mana System

Mana is the resource used for Spawning, Attacking, Dashing, and Abilities.

  • Mana cap: Ranges from 0 to 6.
  • Progression: Players start with 1 Mana. Each consecutive turn, the Mana pool increases by 1, up to a maximum of 6 Mana.
  • Refresh: At the start of every turn, your Mana pool is fully refreshed.
  • Burn: Any Mana not spent by the end of the turn is discarded.

Actions & Spending Mana

Note: A Mob cannot Attack, Move, Dash, or use Abilities on the turn it is Spawned (Summoning Sickness).
